Microneedling is an innovative approach to skin rejuvenation, and has proven to be especially useful for treating:
At 23 Sandstone Body and Mind Spa, Dr. McKee uses the advanced technology of the Rejuvapen Microneedling System to improve the appearance of your skin and promote wrinkle reduction. This minimally-invasive procedure stimulates your body’s natural healing process, allowing it to repair scars and flaws.
Using a handheld device fitted with multiple microneedles, Dr. McKee creates micro-injuries on the surface of your skin, triggering your body’s restorative healing mechanisms.
Growth factors can then be introduced through the temporary microchannels, also stimulating repair and renewed collagen and elastin molecules production. These two structural protein molecules function to make skin seem plumper and more supple, simultaneously becoming smoother and tighter.
When you see Dr. McKee -- or a licensed aesthetician supervised by her -- for a microneedling treatment, she readies your skin with a numbing agent. She prepares the Rejuvapen equipment, applies appropriate gliding gel, and begins to roll the device over your skin.
In most cases, she makes three passes over each treatment section, creating countless tiny microchannels for the application of potent serums, which then soak into the skin. The most common serums typically include hyaluronic acid or growth factors.
After your treatment, Dr. McKee recommends protecting the treated area from the sun for a day or two. The treated skin may appear like a sunburn and be sensitive to UV light or to touch.
When microneedling is used to reduce the appearance of scars, including those caused by acne, Dr. McKee recommends multiple treatment sessions for optimal results. Although she determines the number of needed courses on an individualized basis, most patients have a minimum of 3-6 treatments, four weeks apart.
After completing a series, a refresher treatment is recommended periodically, depending on age, anywhere from three to nine months apart.
The Rejuvapen is safe for all skin types and most areas on the body, including your face, hands, and chest.
If you think microneedling can help you reach your anti-aging and wrinkle reduction goals, it’s time to do something about it. Contact board-certified physician, Dr. McKee. Call the office today or book your appointment easily online.
